About bees

bees is made by Vindhya Data Science. We keep trying new AI tools and techniques as they arrive, agentic software development among them, and bees came out of that. Now we're giving it away.

Who we are

Vindhya Data Science is a women-owned small business with headquarters in North Carolina and people in RTP and Boston. Most of our work is drug discovery, genomics and the software and cloud pipelines around them, done with academic medical centers, pharma and biotech companies, and the federal government.

The company is led by its two co-founders: N R Nirmala, Ph.D., our CEO, and Anupama Reddy, Ph.D., our COO.

Why we built bees

New AI tools keep arriving, and we try them as they do and keep the ones that speed up how we build. Agentic software development is one of them. Where we use it, the work goes like this: we describe what we want, Claude breaks it into beads, and agents pick the beads up and build them. That part is fast. Keeping up with it is not.

Run agents in several repositories at once and it gets hard to keep track. We ran into this, and so do many teams trying agents. An agent stops to ask a question, or waits on a permission prompt in a terminal you closed an hour earlier, and nothing tells you. Work finishes while you're looking at another project. Code changes faster than you can read it, so you approve a plan and then can't say how it was built.

beads already kept the tasks, and Claude Code already kept the sessions. What was missing was one place that read both for every project and put in front of you the things that need a person. We wrote bees to be that place: first for the problems we hit, and now for anyone else who hits them.
